This substantial 10K yellow gold signet ring carries a particularly distinctive American character, centred by a vivid 9 x 7mm blue synthetic sapphire plaque engraved with the Masonic square and compasses and the letter “G”. The substantial, gently tapering band gives the ring a pleasing weight in the hand at 5.22g, while the low-profile construction means it sits comfortably on the finger despite its bold proportions. The inside of the shank is stamped 10K and KIMBERLY, identifying it with the Kimberly name associated with the New York jewellery manufacturer Albert Lorsch & Co.

The Masonic emblem gives this piece its real character. The square and compasses are among the best-known symbols of Freemasonry, while the letter “G” is traditionally associated with Geometry in Masonic symbolism. The Museum of Freemasonry notes that the G became particularly common in American Freemasonry from the 19th century onwards, making its presence here especially fitting for a piece with American jewellery connections. In great condition and a comfortable UK size S / US 9, this is a wonderfully substantial piece for anyone drawn to vintage signet rings, Masonic jewellery or unusual signed American gold.

Fun fact: The Kimberly name has an interesting jewellery history of its own. “Kimberly Gem” was listed in a 1904 jewellery trade publication as a subdivision of Albert Lorsch & Co. in New York, described as producing jewellery set with imitation and synthetic stones, making the synthetic sapphire in this ring particularly appropriate to the history of the maker.

More specs below:

• 10k yellow gold
• circa 1960s
• the synthetic sapphire measures 9x7mm
• the band width is 4mm at the narrowest point
• the setting sits 4mm above the finger
• the ring weighs a nice 5.22g

Overall, the ring is in great condition with minor signs of wear on the stone.

Size: UK S / US 9

FAQs

Do you offer resizing or alterations?

I'm afraid due to lack of resources, I cannot offer any ring resizing or alterations at the moment, but I do recommend to my clients to reach out to their local jeweller for a quote on how much they would charge.

What condition are these pieces in?

All of my items are solid gold and are either modern, retro (over 20 years old), vintage (over 40 years old), or antique (over 100 years old) but they're all preloved/secondhand. Signs of wear and imperfections are more than likely (but isn't that just the joy of preloved and old jewellery?) so please make sure to double-check product information before purchasing to avoid any disappointment.

How do I know the metal purity is accurate?

All metal purities listed (e.g. 9ct, 18ct) are based on visible hallmarks present on the items. Where hallmarks are unclear or absent, this will be stated in the listing (e.g. tested for 9ct gold). All my items are solid – no plated or vermeil here!

How will my item be packaged and shipped?

All pieces are carefully packaged in a little white box with a gold string bow; for UK customers I send via Royal Mail Special Delivery to ensure they arrive promptly. For international customers, the same applies, and the delivery service is calculated at checkout. Items will be insured as per delivery service default limit.

What is your returns policy?

We want you to love your purchase. If you're not completely happy, please contact us within 14 days of receiving your item. As all pieces are one-of-a-kind antiques, we cannot offer exchanges, but we will do our best to resolve any issues.
