This charming vintage 9ct yellow gold ring dates to 1991, with a fully hallmarked Birmingham mark confirming its 9ct gold fineness and the year it was assayed. At its centre is a rich red 3mm ruby, flanked by two tiny 1mm diamonds, all neatly star-set into the broad, gently rounded band. The star-shaped settings give the stones a lovely burst of texture, with the engraved detailing continuing around the shoulders and creating an understated decorative finish. Its slim 2mm shank makes it particularly comfortable on the finger, while the warm yellow gold and small flashes of gemstone colour give it plenty of character despite its delicate proportions.
The hallmark includes the GJ sponsor's mark, 375 for 9ct gold, the Birmingham anchor and the date letter R for 1991. The ring remains in great condition and wears very well, making it an easy piece to wear alone or alongside other rings.
Fun fact: Star-set three-stone rings like this became particularly popular during the Victorian era and continued into the Edwardian period. The flush setting kept the gemstones close to the surface of the gold, making the ring practical for everyday wear, while the engraved rays around each stone transformed a straightforward setting into a decorative starburst. Three-stone versions commonly combined diamonds, rubies and sapphires, giving these otherwise substantial gold bands a small flash of colour and sparkle.

FAQs
Do you offer resizing or alterations?
I'm afraid due to lack of resources, I cannot offer any ring resizing or alterations at the moment, but I do recommend to my clients to reach out to their local jeweller for a quote on how much they would charge.
What condition are these pieces in?
All of my items are solid gold and are either modern, retro (over 20 years old), vintage (over 40 years old), or antique (over 100 years old) but they're all preloved/secondhand. Signs of wear and imperfections are more than likely (but isn't that just the joy of preloved and old jewellery?) so please make sure to double-check product information before purchasing to avoid any disappointment.
How do I know the metal purity is accurate?
All metal purities listed (e.g. 9ct, 18ct) are based on visible hallmarks present on the items. Where hallmarks are unclear or absent, this will be stated in the listing (e.g. tested for 9ct gold). All my items are solid – no plated or vermeil here!
How will my item be packaged and shipped?
All pieces are carefully packaged in a little white box with a gold string bow; for UK customers I send via Royal Mail Special Delivery to ensure they arrive promptly. For international customers, the same applies, and the delivery service is calculated at checkout. Items will be insured as per delivery service default limit.
What is your returns policy?
We want you to love your purchase. If you're not completely happy, please contact us within 14 days of receiving your item. As all pieces are one-of-a-kind antiques, we cannot offer exchanges, but we will do our best to resolve any issues.
