This little cutie is 104 years old; it features one cabochon Opal bezel set in solid 18ct yellow gold split shank. The stone itself has lost a bit of its lustre due to age and a little indent on the stone is present but no other signs of damage. The photos and video just don't do the fiery colours justice – although dialled back, the colours still dance in the light, just a lot more softer.

The shank is fully hallmarked 18 Birmingham W for 1921.

• the band width is 1mm at the narrowest point
• the ring weighs 1.4g
• the opal measures 6mm x 4.5mm
• the setting sits 4mm above the finger

Overall, the ring wears very comfortably and is in a good condition – as mentioned, the stone has lost it lustre due to age and there's a little indent on the stone but no other signs of damage are present.

Please note that the opal is a lot more blue-looking; the studio lighting makes it look a lot paler – please refer to the photo with the green box for actual colour.

Caution: it is recommended not to wear this ring while cleaning or interacting with chemicals as Opals are naturally porous stones and thus can damage their lustre (even more so) as well as create further damage like cracks.

Size: UK J / US 4.75

FAQs

Do you offer resizing or alterations?

I'm afraid due to lack of resources, I cannot offer any ring resizing or alterations at the moment, but I do recommend to my clients to reach out to their local jeweller for a quote on how much they would charge.

What condition are these pieces in?

All of my items are solid gold and are either modern, retro (over 20 years old), vintage (over 40 years old), or antique (over 100 years old) but they're all preloved/secondhand. Signs of wear and imperfections are more than likely (but isn't that just the joy of preloved and old jewellery?) so please make sure to double-check product information before purchasing to avoid any disappointment.

How do I know the metal purity is accurate?

All metal purities listed (e.g. 9ct, 18ct) are based on visible hallmarks present on the items. Where hallmarks are unclear or absent, this will be stated in the listing (e.g. tested for 9ct gold). All my items are solid – no plated or vermeil here!

How will my item be packaged and shipped?

All pieces are carefully packaged in a little white box with a gold string bow; for UK customers I send via Royal Mail Special Delivery to ensure they arrive promptly. For international customers, the same applies, and the delivery service is calculated at checkout. Items will be insured as per delivery service default limit.

What is your returns policy?

We want you to love your purchase. If you're not completely happy, please contact us within 14 days of receiving your item. As all pieces are one-of-a-kind antiques, we cannot offer exchanges, but we will do our best to resolve any issues.
