Art Deco 18ct White Gold Octagonal Ring
Art Deco 18ct White Gold Octagonal Ring

This slender 18ct white gold band has a lovely sense of age, with the softened surface and traces of what appear to be former floral engraving giving it plenty of character. The engraving is now very worn, but faint remnants can still be seen around the outer edge, while the band itself shows the honest signs of a long life, including previous resizing. Stamped simply 18CT, it has the understated proportions of a classic antique or early vintage band and would work beautifully as a wedding ring, stacking band or worn entirely on its own.
At just 2mm wide and weighing a pleasing 1.77g, it has a delicate presence on the finger without feeling insubstantial. The white gold has developed some surface wear consistent with its age, adding to the charm of a piece that has clearly been worn and enjoyed before finding its next chapter.
Fun fact: The octagonal shape of this band is more than just decorative. Faceted wedding bands were a popular way of giving a simple ring a more geometric, structured appearance. Octagonal bands became particularly associated with early 20th-century jewellery, including Art Deco designs, where angular forms were favoured over softer, rounded shapes. Examples of 18ct white gold octagonal wedding bands from the mid-20th century also survive, suggesting this was a design used beyond the Art Deco period.

FAQs
Do you offer resizing or alterations?
I'm afraid due to lack of resources, I cannot offer any ring resizing or alterations at the moment, but I do recommend to my clients to reach out to their local jeweller for a quote on how much they would charge.
What condition are these pieces in?
All of my items are solid gold and are either modern, retro (over 20 years old), vintage (over 40 years old), or antique (over 100 years old) but they're all preloved/secondhand. Signs of wear and imperfections are more than likely (but isn't that just the joy of preloved and old jewellery?) so please make sure to double-check product information before purchasing to avoid any disappointment.
How do I know the metal purity is accurate?
All metal purities listed (e.g. 9ct, 18ct) are based on visible hallmarks present on the items. Where hallmarks are unclear or absent, this will be stated in the listing (e.g. tested for 9ct gold). All my items are solid – no plated or vermeil here!
How will my item be packaged and shipped?
All pieces are carefully packaged in a little white box with a gold string bow; for UK customers I send via Royal Mail Special Delivery to ensure they arrive promptly. For international customers, the same applies, and the delivery service is calculated at checkout. Items will be insured as per delivery service default limit.
What is your returns policy?
We want you to love your purchase. If you're not completely happy, please contact us within 14 days of receiving your item. As all pieces are one-of-a-kind antiques, we cannot offer exchanges, but we will do our best to resolve any issues.
